LILLOOET, B.C. — The Pear Lake wildfire northeast of Lillooet prompted an Evacuation Alert for almost 50 properties in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) and the Squamish Lillooet Regional District.

The TNRD said the 39 properties in its jurisdiction are in Electoral Area “E” (Bonaparte Plateau):

  • 6421 to 6977 Jesmond Road
  • 1093 to 1996 Pavillion-Clinton Road

The Squamish Lillooet Regional District has its own Evacuation Alert for 10 in the area near the fire:

  • 560 to 980 Pavilion-Clinton Road
  • 100 to 400 Pear Lake Road.

“This Evacuation Alert is in place to prepare you to evacuate your premises or property should it be found necessary. Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to an Evacuation Order; however, you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions,” said TNRD officials.

The 30-hectare wildfire, was reported among roughly 77 other wildfires across B.C. on Friday (July 17) and has grown to about 30 hectares.

The BC Wildfire Service said this fire among many others lightning-cause wildfires that sparked on Friday across B.C., following a weather system that saw dry lightning storms sweep through the province.

The BCWS currently has aircraft teams responding to the blaze.

This comes as other Evacuation Orders and Alerts are in place in the south Cariboo region.
