WOLF OF WALL STREET’s RIZA AZIZ SUMMONED IN CORRUPTION PROBE: The Wolf of Wall Street producer Riza Aziz has been summoned to appear Tuesday before the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. Aziz is CEO of Red Granite Pictures and the stepson of former Malaysian premier Najib Razak. Red Granite and Razak are under investigation for a potential embezzlement scheme relating to state-run sovereign wealth fund 1MDB. Aziz is expected to be questioned over the multibillion corruption scandal, part of which involved laundering money through 2014 hit The Wolf of Wall Street, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Red Granite agreed to forfeit $60M to the U.S. government in March as part of a federal investigation. Aziz and Red Granite deny any wrongdoing.
I AM THE NIGHT TRAILER DROPS: Chris Pine and Patty Jenkins are teaming up on the L.A.-noir TV series I Am the Night. The pair worked together on the blockbuster Wonder Woman (and are working again on Wonder Woman 1984). The series follows the true story of Fauna Hodel (India Eisley), a woman who was given away at birth and who is attempting to solve the mystery of her past. The six-episode series premieres on TNT in January of 2019.
MOVIEPASS FILES TO RAISE $1.2B: In an effort to keep afloat, MoviePass‘ parent company Helios & Matheson is hoping to raise $1.2 billion. According to an SEC filing obtained by Deadline, the company plans to use the funds “for general corporate purposes of Helios and its subsidiaries and/or to support MoviePass and MoviePass Ventures operations.” The funds would be raised through stock and debt offerings, but no date for a sale has been issued. MoviePass offers a $10 subscription for movies. MoviePass Ventures backed the badly received Gotti last month starring John Travolta.
CHRIS NOTH AND NAT FAXON TO STAR IN CATASTROPHE: Sex and the City star Chris Noth and Friends From College star Nat Faxon are among the guest stars for the fourth season of Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney‘s Catastrophe. The season will drop later this year.
