KAMLOOPS — Anytime you lose a football game by 49 points, there were things you could have done better as a team. Top of mind for the Kamloops Broncos Sunday evening after being beat by the Okanagan Sun was taking care of the ball on Special teams.

“Special teams really hurt us,” Broncos head Coach Brad Yamaoka said after the game. “We preach to these guys that Special teams are a huge part of this game. We are going to be looking at that, and it’s going to be a huge part of the week, this week.”

The Broncos had difficulty executing a pair of punts in the middle of the second quarter, both of which ended up with the Sun taking possession in the offensive red zone, and then scoring touchdowns on the subsequent play. The Sun wasn’t on offence for long stretches of the first half, simply because they were too efficient. The Sun finished the game with 209 passing yards, 209 rushing yards, and a total of 55 points, while only allowing Kamloops to gain 38 net yards of offence for the entire 60-minute game.
