MERRITT, B.C. — Police in Merritt are seeking the public's help in locating the person responsible for stealing a truck with a boat and trailer attached to the bumper.

Merritt RCMP Staff Sgt. Lorne Wood says police received word of the theft at around 2:45 p.m. Monday and that the truck involved was a black 2011 Ford F-150 with "distinct chrome trim" and BC licence plate number EV8150.

"A short time later Merritt bylaw officers located a boat and trailer on Douglas Street," he says. "Officers attended and found the boat, trailer and hitch had been abandoned. The truck is still outstanding at this time."

Wood says video from a neighbouring business shows a man entering and stealing the truck.

If you were on Douglas Street Monday afternoon and witnessed anything you are asked to call the Merritt RCMP at (250) 378-4262 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
