MERRITT — A Merritt man is expected to make a full recovery following a shooting last Friday.

Merritt RCMP Sgt. Norm Flemming says it occurred around 4 a.m. that morning at Sumac Gardens on Clapperton Avenue.

“A resident, a 30 year old male, he’d just gotten home, he’d been in the bush setting up camp. He’d just put his stuff away, had a smoke on his porch when he noticed a person he didn’t know skulking around in the parking lot,” he says.

“He went over to address him and shortly after a discussion a dark-coloured vehicle, a four-door, pulled up. Some conversation occurred when from the backseat a shot occurred from a small-calibre pistol and he was shot in the knee.”
