LOGAN LAKE — Though the Tunkwa Lake Road fire near Logan Lake has grown to 165 hectares in size, the BC Wildfire Service says progress is still being made on the human-caused blaze.

“The fire status changed last night and it’s now being held, which means that we are not anticipating any growth because of the weather and fire suppression tactics,” says Kamloops Fire Centre Communications Assistant Marla Catherall. “The fire is smouldering and is a low vigorous surface fire with no visible flame.”

As a result, she says crews are feeling “quite optimistic and confident” about the fire at this point in time.
