Spring flooding shuts down highways in B.C. Interior

UPDATE — Highway 1 at Savona and Spences Bridge, and Highway 97 at the junction with Highway 1 have all re-opened. 

Highway 8 remains closed 24 km west of Merritt. 

EARLIER: 

Spring flooding and washouts have arrived in B.C.’s Central Interior. 

DriveBC is reporting washouts have prompted numerous highway closures across the region.

Highway 1 is closed west of Savona. 

A washout at Cache creek has closed Highway 97 northbound at the junction with Highway 1, and Highway 1 in both directions at Spences Bridge.

Highway 8 is also closed in both directions 24 kilometres west of Merritt, due to another washout.
