Treacherous Vernon roads bring BC Transit service to a standstill

VERNON, B.C. — Road conditions in Vernon Thursday morning brought bus service to a standstill.

Jonathan Dyck with BC Transit says the operating company pulled the service because drivers were having trouble.

“They have transit supervisors and transit operators that report back to them about what road conditions are like on the different routes they are trying to run. So, sometimes it could be various roads that are the issue and especially arterial roads that could be the issue and so we look at their advice and they make that call if service should be suspended or if certain routes should be suspended. In this case they decided that all routes should be suspended until further notice.”

Regional routes are still operational including route 60 Enderby, route 61 Lumby, and route 90 UBCO Connector (not servicing Okanagan College Vernon Campus).
