KAMLOOPS — The annual Terry Fox Run goes this Sunday at Riverside Park.

Registration starts at 10 a.m. and the run kicks off at 11.

“It’s split into a three lap tour of the park, so either a three kilometre run, almost seven kilometres or 10 kilometres. You can run, bike, or stroll,” says run organizer Rod Keetch.

He says 300 people participated last year and organizers are hoping to top that this year.

“The more people the better. Lots of people come down just to make a donation and that’s great.”

Keetch, who was inspired to participate after his father passed away from cancer, said proceeds go to the Terry Fox Foundation.

“Their overhead is relatively low, they’re one of the best organizations at making sure the funds don’t get skimmed off the top for operational costs and goes to what it’s needed for.”

He says last year’s event raised just under $20,000 and is hoping to top that this year.

“A large portion of that was from a single family who did an amazing job at fundraising. My goal is to surpass that total, if even slightly.”
