MERRITT, B.C. — A freezing rain warning is in effect for the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna.
In a weather statement online, Environment Canada says light snow is expected to begin on the stretch of Highway 97C Monday (Dec. 4) afternoon then transition to freezing rain Monday night as warm air arrives. By early Tuesday morning, the weather agency says the warming will have eroded the cold air and all precipitation should be showers.
It’s due to the atmospheric river that will reach B.C.’s south coast Monday.
Environment Canada warns the roadways may become icy and slippery. Drivers are asked to take extra care when walking or driving in affected area along the Okanagan Connector.
