Man carjacked in downtown Kamloops late Monday night

KAMLOOPS — A vehicle was carjacked in downtown Kamloops late Monday (Nov. 27) night.

In a news release issued early Tuesday (Nov. 28) morning, Kamloops RCMP say officers were called to Nicola Street and 11th Avenue at around 10:30 p.m. Monday after a man was reportedly robbed of his car by another man with a gun.

Police say the victim parked his dark blue 2008 BMW 535Xi sedan – with B.C. license plate NM099B – in the 1100-block of Nicola Street when a man approached the driver’s window, showed a gun and demanded he get out of the car.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 40s standing nearly 5’7”. He was reportedly wearing a baseball cap and last seen driving east on Nicola Street in the victim’s car.

“Thankfully the victim was not physically harmed however was understandably shaken by the ordeal,” S/Sgt. Janelle Shoihet says. “We are asking residents in the area of Nicola Street and 11th Ave to review video surveillance between 10:30 and 11 p.m. for the BMW. While it is dark blue, it will likely appear black at night.”

Anyone who sees the BMW in motion or parked but occupied is asked to call 911. Other sightings may be reported to Kamloops RCMP.
