Gun report draws RCMP to Westsyde; schools briefly placed on hold-and-secure

KAMLOOPS — RCMP are investigating a weapons report in Westsyde.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says officers received a report at about 11:11 a.m. concerning a man walking on Wawn Road with what appeared to be a gun.

Officers responded and patrolled but could not locate the man.

“Several area schools were briefly placed in a hold-and-secure by the school district on recommendation by the police, out of an abundance of caution,” said Evelyn.
