Kamloops realtor fined $20k after camera caught him consuming milk from client’s fridge

KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops realtor has been fined more than $20,000 after he was caught on camera drinking milk directly from the jug at a client’s home.

On July 16, 2022, Mike Rose was preparing Lyska Fullerton’s home for a showing. Fullerton’s Ring camera, set up inside the home, showed Rose opening the fridge, taking out a jug of milk and drinking directly from it.

Fullerton told CFJC Today she was shocked at Rose’s behaviour upon reviewing the video.

Rose later apologized to Fullerton and publicly apologized in a statement to CFJC Today.

In a consent order dated July 18, 2023, the B.C. Financial Services Authority and Rose agree that he committed misconduct under the Real Estate Services Act.

Rose explains that, at the time he drank the milk, he was “unusually dehydrated due to a new medication he consumed earlier that day and dealing with personal issues which had caused him considerable stress at the time.”

Rose agrees to a fine of $20,000, plus an additional $2,500 for enforcement expenses.
