Stankoven, Bankier boost Blazers to 5-1 win over Rockets Saturday

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers capitalized on a boost to their lineup Saturday night (Jan. 7), defeating the visiting Kelowna Rockets 5-1.

World Junior Championship gold medallists Logan Stankoven and Caedan Bankier were back in the lineup for the Blazers, fresh off their thrilling Team Canada victory over Czechia in the championship game in Halifax.

Stankoven had a goal and an assist for Kamloops, while Bankier chipped in with two assists. Daylan Kuefler popped in two goals. Max Graham replied for Kelowna.

Kamloops outshot Kelowna, 43-20. Dylan Ernst stopped 19 of 20 Kelowna shots in the victory.
