KAMLOOPS — The Blazers have made a trade with the Regina Pats — but no, it’s not the trade many have been longing for.
Tuesday morning (Jan. 3), Kamloops finalized the acquisition of goaltender Matthew Kieper from the Pats. Heading to Regina are a fourth round pick in the upcoming WHL prospects draft, previously acquired from Edmonton, and a sixth round pick in the 2025 draft.
The 18-year-old Kieper is a veteran of 55 career WHL games, posting a 23-22-1-2 record, a 3.88 goals against average and a .873 save percentage.
There has been rampant speculation around the hockey world linking the Memorial Cup-bound Blazers to Regina superstar Connor Bedard. Pats Head Coach and General Manager John Paddock has maintained Bedard will stay with Regina.
