Garand, Stankoven recognized for dedication to the Blazers

KAMLOOPS — The second day of Blazer award winners were announced on Tuesday by the team, recognizing the Most Dedicated Player, the Grinder of the Year, and player who thrived both on the ice and in the classroom during the the B.C. Division hub this spring.

Dylan Garand and Logan Stankoven shared the award for Most Dedicated Player. Stankoven only played six games with the Blazers before moving onto the U18 World Hockey Championships, but during his short stint in Kamloops, the 18 year old had seven goals and three assists, averaging nearly two points per game.

Meantime, Garand was spectacular during the hub, going 15-3 with a 2.15 goals against average and .921 saves percentage.

The Grinder of the Year award goes to Daylan Kuefler, a player who isn’t afraid to get into the dirty areas to make a play. He can also score, tallying four goals and seven assists in 18 games played during the shortened season.

Matthew Seminoff is receiving an award for the second straight day, the recipient of the the Excellence in Hockey and Education award. Not only did he racked up 11 goals and five assists in the hub, but he also maintained a 93 per cent average during the school year. Seminoff also received the Diamond in the Rough award on Monday.
