In a news release, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says 717 cases of the virus were recorded Tuesday (Nov. 17), a new daily record. Eighteen of those cases were found within Interior Health.

The 717 new cases raise the provincial total to 23,661, spread through B.C. as follows:

  • 1,106 — Interior Health (up by 18)

  • 92 — Reside outside of Canada (up by 1)

There are 6,589 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C., including 198 people hospitalized and 63 in intensive care.

Interior Health says there are 193 active cases of the virus in the region, with two people in hospital including one in intensive care.

Sadly, 11 more people have died due to the virus, swelling the provincial death toll to 310.

Henry says there are 10,960 people who are under active public health monitoring due to direct COVID-19 exposure.

A total of 16,649 people are considered fully recovered from the virus, or 70 per cent of all recorded cases.

Meantime, Interior Health has issued a data correction regarding the outbreak at the Royal Inland Hospital Patient Care Tower. In a release, IH says the number of cases associated with that outbreak now stands at 10. It was reported as 11 on Monday.
