FOREST GROVE, B.C. — RCMP are trying to find the owner of a pair of dogs who terrorized a farm in the South Cariboo Sunday (Nov. 15).

According to an RCMP news release, police were called to the property in the 4000-block of Chuckwagon Trail in Forest Grove at about 1:20 a.m. Sunday.

The caller told police two dogs were killing chickens in his coop. When he went to investigate, the dogs charged at him, nearly trapping him while also trying to get at other animals on the property.

The caller described the dogs as pit bulls, one brown and one tan and each weighing more than 100 pounds.

When officers arrived, they saw the two dogs continuing to act aggressively, trying to attack other farm animals and trying to get into a small barn that housed other animals.

In the release, RCMP note “an attempt to locate the owner to help control the animals was made, but no owner was located or would take ownership of the two terriers.”

Seeing no other option, the officers killed the two dogs, before taking the bodies in order to try to determine their ownership. So far, attempts to identify an owner have proven unsuccessful.

If you know any more about the incident — or if you are the owner of the dogs — contact 100 Mile House RCMP at (250) 395-2456 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
