B.C. records 998 new COVID-19 cases over two days; 28 in Interior Health

VICTORIA — B.C. health officials reported 998 new cases of COVID-19 over the past two days, including 28 within Interior Health.

In an update Monday (Nov. 9), Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry reported 536 new cases of the virus recorded Sunday and 462 new cases Monday.

The new cases raise the provincial total to 18,714 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began, distributed throughout B.C. as follows:

  • 5,701 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 210)
  • 11,257 — Fraser Health (up by 737)
  • 301 — Island Health (up by 12)
  • 895 — Interior Health (up by 28)
  • 470 — Northern Health (up by 11)
  • 90 — Reside outside of Canada (unchanged)

Henry reported 4,891 active cases Monday, including 133 people who are in hospital and 43 either in critical or intensive care.

Interior Health reports 128 active cases and one person in hospital.

Meantime, IH says there are still seven cases associated with the outbreak at the Royal Inland Hospital Patient Care Tower construction project. That is unchanged from Friday.

Five more deaths due to COVID-19 were recorded, bringing the provincial death toll to 281.

There are 9,179 people who are under active public health monitoring because they have been in close contact with known COVID-19 cases.

The total of those considered fully recovered has reached 13,425, or 72 per cent of all recorded cases.
