B.C. records 142 new cases of COVID-19, including two in Interior Health

VICTORIA — B.C. has seen 142 new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, according to provincial health officials. Those cases were found in a total of 9,016 tests, meaning the positivity rate is 1.6 per cent.

Two of the new cases were found in the Interior Health region.

There have been a total of 11,034 cases of COVID-19 in B.C. since the pandemic began, spread through the province as follows:

  • 3,974 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 33)
  • 5,800 — Fraser Health (up by 103)
  • 239 — Island Health (up by 2)
  • 587 — Interior Health (up by 2)
  • 345 — Northern Health (up by 2)
  • 89 — Reside outside of Canada (unchanged)

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says there are 1,494 active cases of the virus, including 74 people who are in hospital of whom 24 are in intensive or critical care.

Interior Health reports 26 active cases, including two people in hospital. One of them is in intensive care.

No new COVID-19 deaths were reported Thursday (Oct. 15), leaving the provincial death toll at 250.

There are 3,683 people who are under active public health monitoring due to exposure to known cases of COVID-19.

There are 9,257 people who are considered fully recovered from the virus, or 84 per cent of all recorded cases.
