WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. – Five rural properties along Bridge Creek in the Houseman Road area of the Cariboo, have been placed under an evacuation alert. The affected area is approximately 15 kilometres northeast of 100 Mile House.
The declaration was put in place by the Cariboo Regional District’s Emergency Operations Centre Tuesday (Apr. 28) afternoon in response to high water in levels in the creek.
An evacuation alert is meant to make residents aware of the possibility they may have to leave their homes quickly if the situation worsens.
The alert was announced only hours after the BC River Forecast Centre downgraded its flood warning for the Cariboo region to a flood watch.
