TRU Announces 5-year Deal with 400+ CUPE Staff

More than a year after their deal expired, members of CUPE Local 4879 have finally reached a deal with Thompson Rivers University. The five-year deal comes with a 5.4% wage increase for more than 400 university support staff.

Union President Lois Rugg says the deal represents a compromise. 91% of union members voted to ratify the agreement. TRU Vice-President of Advancement Christopher Seguin says coming to a deal is a big relief for the school as well. Seguin says CUPE is just one of the employee groups the university works with.
