KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Airport (YKA) experienced a marginal year-over-year increase in passenger numbers over the summer this year, the third consecutive quarter with such an increase.

According to new numbers released Monday (Oct. 19) morning, Fulton Field welcomed 71,762 passengers in July, August and September this year – a 4.1 per cent increase from the 68,960 passengers seen during the same three-month period last year.

There were 23,166 passengers at YKA in July this year, up from 22,117 during the same month in 2025. Passenger numbers in August (23,944) and September (24,652) this year were also up 2.2 per cent (from 23,441) and 5.3 per cent (from 23,402) year-over-year, respectively.

“This continued growth reflects sustained demand for air travel to and from Kamloops despite ongoing challenges and uncertainty across the aviation industry,” YKA Managing Director Jim Moroz said in a statement.

“Growth was supported by WestJet’s expanded service to Edmonton, along with continued strength in sports and leisure tourism throughout the summer months.”

In the first quarter of this year – January to March – there 86,059 passengers at Kamloops Airport, up roughly 9.5 per cent from the 78,571 during the same three-month period last year. In the second quarter between April and June, there were 72,937 passengers – a 10.6 per cent increase from 2025.

Through the first nine months this year, Moroz said there have been 230,758 passengers at Kamloops Airport through to the end of September – an 8.1 per cent increase over the same nine-month period from last year.

“This continued growth reflects the strong alignment and collaboration between Kamloops Airport Ltd., Vantage Group, our airline partners, tourism organizations, local governments, and regional stakeholders,” Moroz added.

“Together, these partnerships remain essential to strengthening air service, supporting regional tourism and economic development, and positioning Kamloops and the Thompson-Okanagan for sustainable long-term growth.”

With three months of data still to come, Kamloops Airport is 63,083 passengers away from surpassing last year’s final total of 293,840 passengers. A total of 80,338 passengers passed through the terminal at Fulton Field in the final three months of 2025.

The airport set a record with 361,586 passengers in 2019, before passenger numbers took a nose dive due to COVID-19 and the lingering effects of the pandemic.
