Shifting winds and less smoke coverage pose challenge to Pear Lake wildfire fighters
CLINTON, B.C. — Wildland firefighters battling the Pear Lake wildfire have their work cut out for them heading into the weekend, as hot, windy conditions are expected to sweep through the region on Friday (Aug 21).
This update comes as the Thompson-Nicola Regional District is urging residents on evacuation alerts and orders to be patient and vigilant in the days ahead.
According to the weekend forecast, the Kamloops, 100 Mile House, Cache Creek and Chase areas are expected to experience thundershowers and gusty winds.
The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) said this shift in the weather comes after several days of consistent weather, which is expected to break and clear smoke from the air, leading to increased fire behaviour.
