CLINTON, B.C. — The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) has issued new evacuation orders in the South Cariboo as properties are being threatened by the Rim Lake fire.

The 13-square-kilometre fire is burning south of Chasm Park and its believed to have been sparked by lightning. This fire is about six kilometres east of the massive Pear Lake fire, which has led to numerous evacuation orders and alerts of its own.

The new evacuation order covers approximately two TNRD properties in Electoral Area “E” (Bonaparte Plateau) – 9340 Rose Road and 4415 Clinton-Loon Lake FSR – along with any other properties outlined on this map.

“These properties were previously under evacuation alert due to the Pear Lake wildfire and have been upgraded to an evacuation order due to the Rim Lake wildfire,” the TNRD statement said.

“If you are in the described area, you must leave immediately. A person must not enter the evacuation order area for purposes of residing, occupying or visiting the area.”

Rim Lake fire evacuees are being directed to the Emergency Support Services (ESS) reception centre at McArthur Island in Kamloops. Evacuees from the 70 Mile House area who were ordered out today are now being told to head to the ESS Reception Centre at 4249 18th Avenue in Prince George.
