City of Kamloops providing aid to Clinton-area wildfire evacuees
KAMLOOPS — The Big Bar wildfire complex – made up of the combined Pear Lake and Fiftynine Creek fires – has to grown to more than 660 square kilometres around Clinton, forcing more people from their homes as evacuation orders expand to 70 Mile House.
While crews continue to defend surrounding communities, Kamloops is now playing a major role in supporting hundreds of evacuees.
Approximately 583 TNRD properties are currently under evacuation order, with another 965 on evacuation alert, including the communities of Loon Lake and South Green Lake. An evacuation alert is also in place for about four properties on Big Bar Road on the fire’s western flank.
