Kamloopsian Newman scores shorthanded winner as Royals beat Blazers on Family Day
KAMLOOPS — Reggie Newman gave his family lots to cheer about on Sandman Centre on Family Day Monday (Feb. 16).
The 20-year-old Kamloopsian scored a shorthanded game winner to lift the Victoria Royals to a 4-2 win over the Kamloops Blazers. Newman’s goal at 13:11 of the third period put the Royals ahead for good after the Blazers clawed their way back from a two-goal deficit.

Victoria began Monday’s matinee on the front foot, and they were rewarded for their efforts when Henry Peterson opened the scoring at 4:57. Timofei Runtso doubled the lead at 7:13 and the Royals went into the first intermission up 2-0.
