In absence of provincial cardiac care data for Kamloops, regional hospital board backs third-party study
KAMLOOPS — The Thompson Regional Hospital District (TRHD) Board of Directors is putting its support behind a study of cardiac care outcomes for area residents.
In a news release issued Wednesday (April 29), the TRHD says the third-party study will be funded independently by philanthropic donations.
It is intended to measure outcomes for Thompson-Cariboo-Shuswap residents who must travel to Kelowna for cardiac care due to a lack of services in Kamloops. This data includes catheterization timelines and mortality rates for local residents.
The board notes it is one of several organizations to request relevant healthcare data from the B.C. health ministry and the Provincial Health Services Authority over the past year. Despite the requests, the government has not passed that information along.
