KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are searching for a suspect related to Monday (May 6) night’s shooting near the Ramada Inn in Sahali.

RCMP say officers responded to the area of Frontage Road and Pemberton Terrace at around 7:00 p.m. Monday for the report of shots fired where an injured man and a vehicle damaged by gunfire was found. The man was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It’s the fourth shooting reported in Kamloops in as many days.

“This latest incident is believed to be a result of the ongoing conflict between local drug traffickers, which was also responsible for a series of targeted shootings reported this weekend,” S/Sgt. Todd Wiebe says.

A silver car was seen driving away from the scene. The suspect is described as a man standing 5’10” to 6’ with a lean build and hunch to his upper back. He was seen wearing sunglasses, a black baseball hat with a white decal on the front, a black jacket with a sheen to it, dark joggers, and black gloves with a red trim around the cuffs.

“As our teams continue their efforts, we’re asking residents to please be aware that these targeted attacks are occurring in public settings and present an increased risk to safety,” Wiebe adds. “The Kamloops RCMP Detachment has multiple resources working tirelessly to advance these investigations and is asking the public to work with us by being aware of their surroundings and being vigilant in reporting suspicious occurrences or suspected criminal activities that could be related.”

A police presence remains on scene as officers continue to investigate.
