KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are alerting the public of a conflict between local drug traffickers after three reported shootings across the Tournament Capital last week.

The first shooting was reported to Mounties on Friday (May 3) at the Star Lodge on Columbia Street West. That was followed by a drive-by shooting at a home on 10th Street on the North Shore of Kamloops.

The latest report came early Saturday as cops responded to the 800-block of Sudbury Avenue on the North Shore where the sound of gunshots and a vehicle speeding away were reported.

“We are asking the public to please be on the lookout, be vigilant in their communities, report to us any suspicious activity that could be related. Even if they aren’t sure it doesn’t hurt to pick up that phone and also to be looking at their cameras and seeing if it picked up anything that could help,” said Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

No injuries have been reported from the three shootings, and police say two people have been taken into custody as part of the investigation.

The three investigations are underway with assistance from several RCMP units and, at this time, they are all believed to be connected.

“As Superintendent (Jeff) Pelley mentioned, there is a risk to the public when these sorts of things occur and it’s very important in the public being involved in assisting to further those investigations,” said Evelyn. “We have so many units right now who are working on this, we have our Serious Crimes Unit, Targeted Enforcement Unit, our General Investigation Services team, front line officers and additional resources as well in play. We’re doing lots to further these investigations.”
