COVID-19 decrease recorded in Kamloops last week, increases in Merritt, Kelowna, and Revelstoke

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops area had 30 cases of COVID-19 last week, according to latest mapping from the BC Centre for Disease Control.

Between March 21 and 27, the Kamloops case count dropped slightly to 30 virus cases, after recording 56 cases the previous week.

After 70 cases were counted in the last update, the virus spread in the Kelowna / Central Okanagan area has doubled to 141 cases for this past week.

Merritt’s case count jumped into the red range with 22 cases after recording six the week prior, and Revelstoke was also flagged as a red zone with 18 cases, an increase of 16 from the previous recording period.

Other areas in the “red” range indicating the highest rates of spread include Howe Sound, Peace River South, Upper Skeena, Nisga’a, Prince Rupert, Surrey, Delta, Vancouver, and West Vancouver.

  • Enderby – 4 (up by 3)
  • Salmon Arm — 10 (up by 3)
  • Revelstoke – 18 (up by 16)
  • Central Okanagan-Kelowna — 141 (up by 71)
