B.C. records 445 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, 44 coming in Interior Health

VANCOUVER — B.C. has found 445 new cases of COVID-19 Friday (Feb. 12), including 44 cases within Interior Health.

In a news conference, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said that brings B.C.’s COVID-19 case count total to 72,750, spread through the province as follows:

  • 16,743 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 135)
  • 43,128 — Fraser Health (up by 218)
  • 1,950 — Island Health (up by 15)
  • 6,916 — Interior Health (up by 44)
  • 3,969 — Northern Health (up by 30)
  • 149 — Reside outside of Canada (up by 3)

There are 4,347 active cases of the virus in B.C. Friday, up by 30 from Thursday. Henry reported 226 patients in hospital with the virus and 61 in critical or intensive care.

Within Interior Health, there are 880 active cases, down by 19 from Thursday. There are 43 people in hospital with 13 in critical care.

Ten more people have died of COVID-19 to bring the province’s death toll to 1,288. In Interior Health, the death toll remains at 83.

At least 7,035 are under active public health monitoring due to direct COVID-19 contact.

A total of 67,008 people are considered fully recovered, or 92 per cent.

Meantime, Henry says 162,982 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, including 17,562 second doses. She expressed optimism that B.C.’s vaccine program will ramp up in the coming weeks as Canada anticipates a significantly increased supply from Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna.
