Pacific Coastal to offer six-days-a-week service between Kamloops and Vancouver

KAMLOOPS — Another regional airline is jumping into the void left by Air Canada’s suspension of service to Kamloops.

Wednesday morning (Jan. 20), Richmond-based Pacific Coastal announced new direct flights between Kamloops and Vancouver International Airport.

The flights will be offered six days a week — every day but Saturday — with departures from YVR at 2:35 p.m. and departures from Kamloops Airport at 3:55 p.m.

Pacific Coastal will offer flights on a 19-passenger, turboprop Beechcraft 1900D plane. The first flight will be offered on February 9, with the airline offering fares “as low as $150 one way” including fees, surcharges and taxes.

“We want to ensure that the community of Kamloops maintains air service to Vancouver to support the movement of essential workers, time-sensitive cargo, and assist those travelling for medical appointments at this time,” said Pacific Coastal’s Johnathan Richardson in a news release.

The announcement comes one day after Central Mountain Air unveiled plans for a twice-weekly, direct Kamloops-to-Vancouver flight starting April 5.

The regional airlines are stepping in to a vacancy created when Air Canada suspended its service between Kamloops and Vancouver, effective January 23.
