CALGARY — The details still need to be ironed out, but the Western Hockey League’s Board of Governors says there will be a 2020-21 season.

The board has announced it has made a commitment to play a 24-game regular season. Final approvals for playing plans are still needed from health authorities in each provincial and state jurisdiction. When the green light is given, the season start date will be determined.

As one of 22 WHL teams across Western Canada and the U.S. Pacific Northwest, this means the Kamloops Blazers will be back on the ice.

“The Western Hockey League is committed to providing a season for WHL players,” stated WHL Commissioner Ron Robison. “This commitment ensures WHL players will receive the opportunity to compete at the highest level in the system and continue to pursue their hockey goals in the world’s finest development league for junior hockey players.”
