B.C. sees 84 new cases of COVID-19, one in Interior, no new deaths

VICTORIA — The province has ended the week with another concerning COVID-19 case count.

In a news release, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says 84 new cases have been recorded in B.C. Friday (Aug. 14).

That brings the provincial total to 4,358, spread through the province as follows:

  • 1,354 (Vancouver Coastal)
  • 2,276 (Fraser Health)
  • 150 (Island Health)
  • 399 (Interior Health)
  • 107 (Northern Health)
  • 72 (Reside outside of Canada)

The 399 cases in Interior Health represent one more than the day previous.

Dr. Henry says there are 629 active cases in the province, including 12 people in hospital and four patients who are in intensive care.

Locally, Interior Health says there are 13 active cases in the region, with two people in hospital and none in intensive care.

IH says 165 cases have been linked to exposures in Kelowna since June 26. Eight of those are still active and in isolation.

There have been no new deaths due to COVID-19, leaving the province’s death toll at 196. There has been just one death in the month of August.

A new health care outbreak has been recorded at the Queen’s Park Care Centre in New Westminster.

IH says there have been no new cases connected with the outbreak at the Okanagan Correctional Centre in Oliver.

The total of those who have recovered from COVID-19 is 3,533, or 81 per cent.
