Accused in 2017 Kamloops standoff, shootout pleads guilty to several charges
KAMLOOPS — Several police officers were in Kamloops Provincial Court today as a suspect involved in an hours-long standoff in Kamloops in 2017 entered guilty pleas.
Shane William Caron pleaded guilty to several charges stemming from an October 2017 incident that led to him allegedly barricading himself inside of a unit at G & M Trailer Park. Caron also entered guilty pleas to charges stemming from an incident two weeks prior.
Thursday (Jan. 9), Caron pleaded guilty to a number of charges, including criminal harassment, possessing an axe and bear spray for a dangerous purpose, possessing brass knuckles, assault with a weapon, breaking-and-entering a dwelling house and committing an assault, failing to stop, pointing a rifle at police, and discharging a firearm with intent.
He was originally charged with more than a dozen offences, including four counts of attempted murder.
