Hospital locked down in Williams Lake
WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Some anxious moments at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake Wednesday.
North District RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says the hospital was put on lockdown shortly after 2:00 p.m. after it was reported that a man, armed with a knife was in the hospital.
“Frontline responders from Williams Lake immediately attended the hospital to search for the suspect,” she says. “An adult male, who was located outside the hospital, attempted to flee from police on foot. After a short foot chase, the 26-year-old Williams Lake man was arrested.”
Saunderson says an investigation revealed that the man did not have a knife as originally reported and that his behaviour was medically related and not criminal in nature.
