Pair of Blazers listed on NHL Central Scouting midterm rankings
KAMLOOPS — The Blazers have two players that have made it on the NHL Central Scouting midterm rankings.
Defenseman Quinn Schmiemann is 71st among North American skaters, which would put him in the third round of the NHL Draft. Schmiemann has five goals and 14 assists in 38 games this season. The 17-year-old from Wilcox, Saskatchewan was selected by the Blazers in the third round of the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.
Forward Martin Lang has also been ranked 162nd among north american skaters, pegging him as a sixth-round pick. A native of the Czech Republic, Lang’s in first season in Kamloops after being picked in the first round of last year’s CHL import draft. He’s seventh in WHL rookie scoring with 10 goals and 18 assists through 44 games.
No surprise, Jack Hughes from the U.S. Development Program is ranked No. 1 on the list ahead of this year’s NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver.
