Campfire ban for Cariboo Fire Centre
KAMLOOPS — The BC Wildfire Service has scheduled a campfire ban for the Cariboo Fire Centre.
It will go into effect at noon on Tuesday, July 31 and will remain in place until Sept. 29, or until the public is otherwise notified.
The BC Wildfire Service says the ban is to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety and comes on the heels of hot and dry weather in the region.
“Although thundershowers are expected, temperatures are forecasted to remain warm,” it says. “The fire danger rating in the region is generally “high”, with some pockets of “moderate” and “extreme.”
