Sagmoen elects trial by judge

KAMLOOPS — A man accused of threatening a sex trade worker with a gun in the North Okanagan has had an arraignment hearing in Vernon provincial court.

37 year old Curtis Sagmoen appeared via video Thursday, and a lawyer representing him elected trial by Supreme Court judge, and requested a preliminary inquiry.

He did not enter a plea.

Sagmoen will make another appearance by video Jan 26 when a bail hearing is scheduled.

A date for a preliminary inquiry is also expected to be set.

He is facing seven charges including pointing a firearm, uttering threats and disguising his face with the intent to commit an offence dating back to August when a sex trade worker had a pre arranged meeting with a man near Falkland.

The remains of 18 year old Traci Genereaux were found by police on a farm owned by Sagmoen’s family near Silver Creek in October.

No charges have been laid in connection with her death.
