RCMP says charges to be laid in Canada involving fentanyl shipments from China

VANCOUVER — The RCMP has launched at least 20 investigations involving dozens of vendors shipping fentanyl from China as Canada grapples with a record number of illicit opioid deaths, the force’s director of serious organized crime says.

VANCOUVER — Valerie Nicholson believes she might be dead if not for Positive Women’s Network.

She was addicted to drugs and sleeping in decrepit hotels in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside when she was diagnosed with HIV about 13 years ago. She assumed it was a death sentence.
