KAMLOOPS — Interior Health (IH) says it is placing a high priority on hiring more Aboriginal workers.

IH has set a goal of adding 1,200 Aboriginal employees to their workplace by 2025.

To that end, VP of Human Resources Mal Griffen says Interior Health has launched a recruitment strategy with hopes of bumping IH employees with Aboriginal heritage from 3.93 per cent to 10 per cent.

B.C. Health Minister Adrian Dix says it’s becoming increasingly clear that it is necessary to create an environment that provides culturally appropriate care that supports all patients.
