Kamloops dodges heavy snowfall — for now

KAMLOOPS — The big dump of snow Environment Canada forecast for Kamloops today failed to materialize — at least for now.

“I think we may have thought that that system was heading north and getting Kamloops earlier,” says Meteorologist Doug Lundquist. “It’s just delayed, it’s a little bit south of the area and soon we have to go from the -11 we have now to zero or +1 on Sunday and there’s usually a headache to get between the two.”

He says that could mean up to five centimetres of the white stuff this weekend. As for the next 24 to 36 hours he’s expecting two centimetres of snow in Kamloops but a much different story on the Coquihalla where freezing rain and more is expected.
