Online Walmart threat investigation at ‘a standstill’ while computer experts sift through evidence

KAMLOOPS — There’s been little progress in a Kamloops RCMP investigation into an online threat which forced hundreds of Kamloops Walmart customers out of the store last month.

The threat, which was later determined to be a hoax, was made during the noon hour on November 13.

Police identified a suspect a day later after executing a search warrant at a residence in Kamloops, where police seized a number of electronic devices.

“(The computer equipment has) been forwarded to our computer department where they will be looking into the computers and seeing exactly where (the threat) originated from and when it was sent out,” says Cpl. Jodi Shelkie. “So, that takes a while and so our investigation is still ongoing but it’s kind of at a standstill from our part while our computer experts get the information.”
