KAMLOOPS — The Cariboo Regional District is building two new libraries in McLeese Lake and in the Bridge Lake/Interlakes area.

Construction was delayed due to this summer's devastating wildfires but work is expected to be complete by the end of the year.

The library building in McLeese Lake is in place along with the new staff and will be located directly behind the old library.

Construction for the foundation for the library in the Interlakes area will begin in mid-October.

The new libraries are modular buildings manufacted by Kamloops-based Horizon North. They were purchased with a view to shorten construction time and increase the ease of installation.

Looking ahead, these buildings will be a standard design for all stand-alone rural libraries within the CRD.
