Calder Cup visits Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — It was named after the first president of the NHL.

Today players who are one step away from the big league play for the Calder Cup.

Named after Frank Calder, it’s the oldest continuously awarded pro hockey trophy — since the 1936-37 season.

The Stanley Cup had that streak until it was interrupted by the 2005 lockout.

Today the Calder Cup came to Kamloops with a native son who was on the American Hockey League championship team that won it last month.
