KAMLOOPS — Canada's national police force is asking for help from the public - but not in an effort to catch a bad guy.

This time, the RCMP need help naming the newest litter of puppies who will grow up to become police service dogs.

It's expected 13 German Shepherd pups will be born at the RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail, Alberta over the course of 2017.

The force is soliciting name suggestions from children 14 years old or younger.

The names need to start with 'K' and contain two or fewer syllables and nine or fewer letters.

There are three police service dogs working out of the Kamloops RCMP detachment: Eric, Fargo and Griff.
