SICAMOUS, B.C. — A man initially charged with manslaughter in the death of Sicamous woman has now been charged with murder.

Jo Ann Jackson, 66, was found dead in a driveway of a mobile home on June 19. A man was arrested not far away.

In a news release issued Wednesday (June 26), B.C. RCMP spokesperson Staff Sgt. Kris Clark said the man was initially released on a manslaughter undertaking with several conditions, including not to return to the Hillier Road mobile home park.

Monday, the B.C. Prosecution Service approved a single count of second degree murder against Sicamous resident Scott Keith McDonald, 37.

“The securing of charge approval was the culmination of the tireless efforts involving investigators from the Southeast District Major Crime Unit, BC RCMP Forensic Identification Services, Support Services, the Sicamous RCMP and Salmon Arm RCMP” said Insp. Brent Novakoski, the senior investigating officer for Southeast District RCMP.

McDonald is now being held in custody pending a bail hearing. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 2 in provincial court in Salmon Arm.
