RCMP searching for dark pickup truck that may be connected to abandoned house fires in Merritt

MERRITT, B.C. — Merritt RCMP are seeking any information and video related to a structure fire that destroyed two abandoned houses off Midday Valley Road.
S/Sgt. Josh Roda says a witness saw a dark pickup truck pull up to the structures shortly before 2:00 a.m. Monday (June 17).
“A few minutes later the structure was on fire and the pickup truck fled the area at a high rate of speed,” Roda states. “We would like to identify and speak with the occupant of the truck to determine what may have occurred.”
The fire on Monday morning quickly spread to another abandoned house next door, engulfing both buildings in flames. In a news release issued Monday, Roda credits the quick response from the Merritt Fire Department for holding both fires and preventing them from spreading to a third abandoned building next door.
