KAMLOOPS — A 47-year-old Kamloops man was arrested after a brief road closure and notable police presence on Columbia Street West Wednesday (April 10) night.

Kamloops RCMP say officers were called to a motel on the 500-block of Columbia Street West just before 7:00 p.m. Wednesday for the report of a man with a gun.

In a news release issued Thursday morning, police say traffic was interrupted on Columbia Street West while officers responded.

“Officers from the Southeast District Emergency Response Team along with the Police Dog Service assisted frontline officers in containing the area and safely taking the man into custody,” S/Sgt. Janelle Shoihet states. “An imitation firearm was recovered in a subsequent search of the scene.”
